چکیده

Background: The carrying angle (CA) is the created when long axis of humerus and stretched supinated forearm intersect. It disappears elbow pronated flexed. aim this work was to study changes CA after supracondylar humeral fractures in children as compared unaffected side assess functional outcomes related these possible changes. Methods: This retrospective-prospective conducted on 21 aged more than 5 years 12 old, having closed within one week from injury treated by reduction fixed two percutaneous K-wires applied lateral side, had a change other at end minimum follow up period (twelve months fixation fracture). Results: As stated Flynn’s criteria for grading, all cases achieved satisfactory outcomes, 16 patients excellent 4 good patient fair whereas no were graded unsatisfactory outcomes. All parents totally satisfied with results, only three minimal degree dull pain that just appears lifting heavy objects, case pin tract infection resolved oral antibiotics. Conclusions: following managed are resulting represented few complications reported; they weren’t severe didn’t affect daily living activities patients.

Flexion-Type Supracondylar Humeral Fractures

Background: The vast majority of displaced pediatric supracondylar humeral fractures can be treated successfully with closed reduction and percutaneous pinning. The need for open reduction is difficult to determine a priori and is typically due to the failure of closed reduction attempts or persistent limb ischemia. The aims of this study were to determine the prevalence of flexion-type supraco...

Outcome of supracondylar fractures of the humerus in children.

Seventy patients who had sustained supracondylar fractures of the humerus as children were examined. Loss of carrying angle of the elbow occurred if the fracture was immobilized in a varus position during healing. Varus malalignment could have been obviated if comparative radiographs of the other elbow had been taken and the Baumann angles compared. Rotation and posterior displacement at the fr...

Surgical treatment outcome for open supracondylar humerus fractures in children.

Although numerous studies have been conducted on supracondylar humerus fractures in children, there is only a limited number of studies regarding the outcome of open fractures. In this study, the early and late outcome of open supracondylar humerus fractures in children were evaluated. The outcome in 26 children (19 males, 7 females) treated for open supracondylar humerus fractures was evaluate...

Functional outcome of supracondylar elbow fractures in children: a 3- to 5-year follow-up.

BACKGROUND Long-term functional outcomes of supracondylar elbow fractures (SCEF) have not been well documented in the literature. We retrospectively evaluated functional outcomes of pediatric SCEF using the Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) questionnaire. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the outcomes of patients who presented to our tertiary care pediatric emergency departm...

Closed Reduction versus Open Reduction and Pin Fixation in Pediatric Type III Supracondylar Humeral Fractures

Background Supracondylar humeral fractures constitute about 60% and 13% of all pediatric elbow and pediatric skeletal fractures, respectively, with a peak incidence in the 5-7 years age group. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare closed reduction with open reduction and pin fixation in type III supracondylar humeral fractures in children younger than...
